Well, as Google no longer seems to be counting 95% of our incoming links.... things must clearly be re-thought! It has always been important to find incoming ONE way links, it seems to be more important now. Seems Google is no longer interested in links exchanges, links pages, etc... Not sure why and I'm not sure anyone has EVER really figured out how Google does their page ranking.
Something that surprised me was Top 100 sites! I wasn't sure how much good they did, if any but I admit I've submitted to several and even started one of my own just to see if/how it would help. Several of my incoming links from Google are From TOP 100 sites! This DID shock me but..... there it is. So, if you come across a top 100 page, especially one that has any pagerank, go for it... submit your site.
And work on those one way links. I wish I could tell you how to go about it but still working on that myself. Haven't found anyone that is actually able to EXPLAIN how this can be done (still searching though!).

And it begins...
Well, if nothing else, this should be interesting! When it comes to Search Engine Optimization, well.... it's one of those things ya just gotta do, as in HANDS ON! There's no other way to learn, so this is where I start. I started selling on ebay 8 years ago back when scanners were the only way to get a picture of the item and most listings didn't even have pictures. No designer templates, stores, etc... You really didn't have to work so hard to sell something. People were auction crazy, the thrill of the auction just about made most people lose their heads over an item they kindof wanted and rarely needed!
It was great! Now, you have to have your store optimized, your templates designed in an easy to read fashion and a great digital camera among other things. When I decided to open my own website in addition to my ebay store, it seemed like a piece 'o cake! Wrong! Well, setting it up was pretty easy, getting items listed was even easier.
The old saying "build it and they will come" does NOT apply to websites. They will NOT come until you've done some extensive work with SEO just for starters.
So I decided to just dig in and teach myself! It's been a hard, time consuming road and I am by NO means an SEO expert. I have, however learned some things that have helped tremendously. I continue to learn more every day and I figured, why not share some of this newfound knowledge I've got banging around in my head.
Plus, carring on conversations with 3 children all day long leaves me longing for adult conversation..... even if it is one sided :o).
